Average Adult Size:

  • 120 – 160cm (from nose to tail)

Associated Risks:

  • Disruption to ornamental gardens &lawned areas,
  • Sinkage to slabbed areas due to tunnelling,
  • Can cause surface instability & trip hazards where tunnels break ground surface.

Life Cycle:

  • Mating period February to June with 1 litter per year,
  • Young generally leave nest at 5 weeks old.

Life Style:

  • Active just after sunrise & just before sunset,
  • Feeds upon earth worms & invertebrates,
  • Do not like water logged areas of soil.

Control Method(s):

  • Trapping,
  • Chemical intervention.
